One of the really fun things about the release of Big In China was the opportunity to play a bunch of times with Andy Aledort and the Groove Kings. Aside from being a good, longtime friend and Guitar World colleague, Andy is a master guitarist. He’s given lessons to Aerosmith’s Joe Perry, played the Mt. Fuji Rock Festival with Jimi Hendrix’ Band of Gypsys (earning him the Japanese nickname “Andy Hendrix”), and spent the last seven or eight years playing guitar with Dickey Betts’ Great Southern.

This clip was from the second time we played together, after the Maplewood launch of the book, at Highland Place. What a pleasure it was to hear this great band work up my original song – and to hear Andy playing these great Duane Allman-esque slide lines behind me.
