A Labor Day roundup of corruption in sports
The NCAA is so far gone that it needs to be blown up,says the Washington Post’s John Feinstein.
“The NCAA needs to go away, the same way all corrupt organizations must eventually go away. The Berlin Wall fell, and so did the Soviet Union. The reserve clause went away, and baseball didn’t crumble. New Coke ceased to exist because it was awful.”
I find it hard to disagree with this.
Meanwhile my friend Jon Weiler takes on the NBA and other pro sports owners in a Huff Post column. Well worth reading.
And then there’s this looming and simple question, which gets right to the heart of so much: Why is T. Pryor banned for five games in the NFL but Jim Tressel can coach with the Colts right away?
